AYA Records presents ‘Hana Chagra’.
‘Hana Chagra’ is the third single from the Humazapas' album 'Sara Mama'.
It is the time of the feast of the tender grains, there is an abundance of food in the Cotacachi communities in Ecuador.
‘Hana Chagra’ is a composition to the “chimbapura” rhythm, where the women sing to the mischievous Virakchuro bird who eats the first grains of corn. With this musical piece we want to transmit the community life of our territories and the respect for one of the sacred activities of the Kutakachi Kichwa nationality, farming and raising agrobiodiversity.
The music video for ‘Hana Chagra’ was directed by Luis Bonilla Simba, an audiovisual producer for ANTA Records. The video depicts a meeting between two Ecuadorian territories, the Kutakachi Kichwa nationality from the Andes and the Afro-Esmeraldeño people from the coast. ‘Hana Chagra’ shares the same rhythmic pattern as the bambuco of the Afro-Esmeraldeño people, and so we can see harmony between the music, dance and song of these two ancestral peoples of Ecuador.
